Industrial
Organizations have existed in India since pre-historic
times. In the Mouryan era, the guild united
co-operatives of the craftsman as well as individual
workman to fix rules of work, wages, quality and
prices for the commodities. Towards the end of the
Nineteenth century, to strengthen the hands of the nascent Indian
industries and local traders, the need for establishment of Chambers of
Commerce was again felt. Thus the year 1990 heralded not only the
Twentieth Century but also an important Institution, the Marwari Chamber
of Commerce. Following Indian
Independence, secularism became the buzzword and in 1949, the Chamber
re-christened itself as Bharat Chamber of Commerce. Born at the cross-road
of the Twentieth Century, the Chamber has withstood
the ravages of time through its glorious history and
has emerged successfully as a composite body of varied
types and sizes of business. |
